HFHNS fulfills another dream of home ownership!

Just about 12 months ago a friend sent me the application for Habitat for Humanity’s new homes to be built at 40 Hull Street in Wenham. After attending their info session I completed the application and tucked the thought of being chosen in the back of my mind. There were many applicants, all with their own stories. In September I was notified that I had been made a finalist and just a few weeks later was chosen as one of the two homeowners. The entire process has been surreal. I am beyond thankful to have the opportunity to own a beautiful home in the town the boys have attended school in since kindergarten, and will still be close to the city that raised me and has my heart. As a homeowner I am tasked with 400 hours of “sweat equity”. The first day on site I was admittedly nervous, but have enjoyed every moment. The crew of volunteers is welcoming and I have learned so much. Not many people can say they helped to build their home from the ground up! If you would like to join us, we build on Wednesdays and Saturdays and are always thankful for and in need of volunteers. As a bonus I get credit for your hours! Whether you have experience or not I assure you that your help will be appreciated. Last Saturday Don (our Executive Director) decided we should make a little video after realizing how much I was enjoying a task I thought I was going to dread at the beginning of the day. Hope you enjoy it. I’m waiting for my call from HGTV! 😂🔨🏡
